Grade: 12th Grade
How long have you been a student at DA?
This is my 15th year at Davidson Academy
What is your favorite thing about DA?
My favorite thing about DA is the relationships I have created over all the years, especially with my teachers. Every teacher goes out of their way to connect with us and make each student feel special. I also enjoy the class sizes, which help create this level of understanding the teachers have.
Which class had been your favorite and why?
My favorite class was my Anatomy class with Mrs. Breece my junior year. Every day we started the class with prayer and prayer requests. Mrs. Breece does a phenomenal job at helping the students understand. She also listens to our input and really involves the students with her lessons.
How would you describe the classroom environment at DA?
The classroom environment here at DA is so helpful to our learning and daily life. The sizes of each class help us connect with our teachers and each other. Our teachers at Davidson are very good at asking students the right questions to keep us engaged and involved.
What is your favorite DA tradition?
My favorite DA tradition is Homecoming week. This is my favorite week of the year because it lets the students have a chance to connect with each other and have fun! We get to dress up everyday of the week in different themes and there are activities every day. One of my favorite activities is hallway decorating. Each grade gets a theme and we get to spend our Monday evening decorating our designated hallway together. It is so fun and amazing to get the opportunity to see everyone’s creativity skills and bond with one another.
What activities are you involved in at DA?
I am a Student Ambassador and Co-Founder of the Culinary Club. I am a part of the Varsity Volleyball team and Tennis team. I am also in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Key Club, Beta Club, Passion for the Paws, and Pickleball Club.
Choose a DA activity or team that you listed above and describe your experience and how it has impacted you.
I have been a part of the Varsity Volleyball team since 8th grade. My time with this team was like no other and I am so incredibly grateful for the friendships I’ve made playing a sport I love. I am glad I was a part of a team sport throughout my time at Davidson because I feel as if it shaped me into the person I am today. Davidson volleyball helped me be a good friend, team player, and leader. I am excited to see my next stage of life after graduation and have these traits shine throughout my life.
Davidson Academy is a God-focused school. How does that impact life at DA and what does it mean to you?
I am so blessed to be able to go to a school where it is certain I will learn about God in some way each day. Starting my day with a daily devotion in the morning announcements is so important. I am also thankful we get to have chapel every Thursday to worship and learn more about God. The teachers and staff are great examples of Christ, and I hope that I can be a mentor to people in my future just like they are.
If you are a senior, what are your plans for college and do you know what you want to study?
I am undecided on what college I am going to attend but I plan to study Pre-Dentistry or Biology to become an orthodontist in the future. My second option is to go to college and study to become a physical therapist.
What would you tell someone who was interested in attending Davidson Academy?
I would encourage them to come for a visit. Our Open House events are an excellent opportunity to be able to see DA in person, meet our amazing teachers, and get a feel for the environment and culture. We have shadow days too! That’s where students come spend the day at DA to experience what it’s like to be a DA Bear.
