Grade: 11th grade
How long have you been a student at DA?
I have attended DA since 8th grade.
What is your favorite thing about DA?
My favorite thing about DA is our amazing community.
Which class has been your favorite and why?
My favorite class has to be either Pottery or DE US history. Both classes have challenged me and made me learn so many new things and skills.
How would you describe the classroom environment at DA?
The classroom setting is intimate so I am able to get one-on-one help from my teachers and connect with my classmates on a daily basis. I am able to learn the real-world skill of collaborating with others, by working on group projects. We’ve done everything from creating slide shows to recording podcasts.
What is your favorite DA tradition?
My favorite DA tradition is the candle lighting ceremony and senior chapel. The candle lighting ceremony in the senior class lights the junior class candle and it shows the passing of the torch and the start of new chapters in so many people’s lives. There is a slide show presentation in Senior Chapel that shows the senior class members through the years so they can reflect on how far they’ve come and what made them who they are today.
What activities are you involved in at DA?
I'm a part of the DA Clay Target Team, Theater productions, Outdoor Club and Culinary Club.
Choose a DA activity or team that you listed above and describe your experience and how it has impacted you.
I have loved being a part of the DA Theater Productions both on and off stage. Mrs. Windee gave me a role where I could perform aerial silks within multiple shows. I am beyond thankful for that opportunity to share my skills with the DA community. My favorite show we have produced is either Tuck Everlasting or The Little Mermaid.
Davidson Academy is a God-focused school. How does that impact life at DA and what does it mean to you?
My spiritual life has grown so much by being at DA. One thing that has always stuck with me is there was one time that I had some Biblical questions and I took them to Mrs. Chapman, and she took the time to discuss and answer my questions.
What would you tell someone who was interested in attending Davidson Academy?
I have been to many schools in my life and I know that no school is perfect but Davidson Academy has exceeded all my expectations. The teachers and students surrounded me with love from the beginning. I know that once I graduate from DA I will be prepared for college, life, and beyond.
