Davidson Academy welcomes Michael Harris to our Athletics Department as Head Coach of the Middle School Football Program. Coach Harris is excited to combine his passion for athletics and leadership with the life lessons learned through 17 years of playing football and years coaching youth, middle and high school football.
Coach Harris began his love for football at six years old in the Hendersonville Parks Department followed by his time at Hunter Middle School and Beech High
School. While at Beech, Coach Harris was selected as a two-time All-Sumner County, All Region and All-State Honorable Mention Quarterback as well as an All-Mid-State defensive back selection his senior season. Following his graduation in 1996, Coach Harris continued his career as a scholarship student athlete at the University of Memphis, where he became a three-year letterman and graduated with a degree in finance.
After graduating from Memphis, Coach Harris volunteered with various High School, Middle School, and youth football programs through the years. Prior to his time here with the Bears, he most recently served for two years as an assistant, coaching the Hendersonville Jr. Commandos Football Program. In 2024 the Harris family came to Davidson Academy where he spent last season coaching Quarterbacks, Receivers and Defensive backs for our middle school program as well as assisting with the Receivers and Defensive Backs for our high school program.
Coach Harris is most looking forward to seeing young players mature on and off the field, assisting them in developing their leadership and faith, and helping Davidson Academy stand out as a premier choice for student athletes everywhere.
Coach Harris and his wife, Jennifer, live in Hendersonville and have three boys, Carson Briscoe, Cam Briscoe (DA 7th grade), and Callen Harris (DA Preschool).
