Meet Olivia Kouzouglidis

Grade: 11th Grade
How long have you been a student at DA?
3 years
What is your favorite thing about DA?
My favorite thing about DA is how friendly and supportive the school community is.
Which class had been your favorite and why?
My favorite class at DA has been my Spanish II class because we got to do lots of fun project and Mrs. Puckett was such a great teacher.
How would you describe the classroom environment at DA?
I have to say the classroom environment is pretty hands on. There are lots of projects that tie to what we are learning that week. The teachers are always helpful and will explain if you are ever struggling in class.
What is your favorite DA tradition?
My favorite DA tradition is the Friday night Bear Walk with the football team and Christmas Chapel. Being able to see everyone before the game starts makes it so much fun and gives me more school spirit. Christmas chapel is a really well put together event and it’s such a great service to attend.
What activities are you involved in at DA?
I am a varsity cheerleader, DA Student Ambassador, and a member of the Culinary Club
Choose a DA activity or team that you listed above and describe your experience and how it has impacted you.
I am a varsity cheerleader, and it has brought me some of my best memories and friendships. When I started at DA I did not know a lot of people, but everyone was so inviting and taught me what it was like to be a part of a team. It has also made me work harder and strive to do my part. I am very thankful for my opportunity to be a part of the wonderful squad here at DA.
Davidson Academy is a God-focused school. How does that impact life at DA and what does it mean to you?
Being a God-focused school impacts multiple aspects of our school and the people that make up the community. Everyone prioritizes their relationship with God above all else and it really makes everyone a more positive person and they strive to be like Him to the best of their ability. Overall, it brings us closer and helps our community feel more secure. To me it means that I put God first and it really motivates me to be a better me each and every day. Coming to DA really opened me up and I bettered my relationship with the Lord.
What would you tell someone who was interested in attending Davidson Academy?
I would tell them that Davidson Academy is such a welcoming and friendly atmosphere and there is something for everyone. Being at DA has made me realize who I am as a person, and I know it will have that affect on others as well. Davidson Academy has some wonderful opportunities, especially in high school, it prepares you for college in such a great way. It is a great school run by such great people. Teachers and administration will make you feel welcome and special even when you are having a hard day. DA has made me feel great about who I am, and I am forever thankful for my time here. Also, a special shoutout to Officer Slater, one of the best people you will know on campus. He keeps us so safe, and I am so thankful. I would highly recommend coming to DA at any age.
