Theater
Theater students focus on stage presence, voice, and character development. Theatre games and improv are used to enhance students' familiarity with the stage and its history and to build an ensemble with fellow students. Students are allowed to be creative and find solutions that present themselves without prior planning, requiring them to think quickly and confidently. Our high school students even host an all-student directed play each year.
For students who are more technically minded and prefer the behind-the-scenes world of theater, they can be involved in set design, lighting, costumes and make-up. In addition, they become familiar with stage components and technical terms. They focus on developing the basic tools and procedures for creating elements of technical theatre such as stage properties (props), crews/assignments, costumes/makeup, sound engineering/recording, lights and lighting design, fly system/safety, box office/ticket sales, stage management, scene design, and publicity.
Examples of our past theater productions include Godspell, Tinker Bell, Seussical The Musical, Tuck Everlasting, Mrs. Lincoln, Freaky Friday, Wizard of Oz, Charlotte's Web, The Addams Family, Diary of Anne Frank and many more!
